“Tell me how I’m supposed to breathe with no air.” - Jordan Sparks
Denver, Colorado - the land of thin air. Nightlock stepped into the arena last weekend lacking only one thing - oxygen.
While the Game Makers looked on, tenting their fingers expectantly, Nightlock rushed the field and took an early lead on Seattle’s Underground. Though Underground made a significant comeback, we went on to take the first game 13-9. Then, keeping that momentum, went on to beat Pop 13-7.
Displeased with our success in the first two games, the Game Makers threw an unknown into the third round - Green Mean Go. This Philly team caught us off guard and off our game; which unfortunately lead to our first loss of the weekend.
After a bye and a chance to rest our feet in style - shout out to KEEN - we came out hard against Colorado’s own, Molly Brown. The arena really put Nightlock to the test in this final Saturday battle. The elements ranged from boiling heat, to partial clouds, to heavy wind. Though we fought hard we were unable to sink the unsinkable.
Sunday morning we entered our Showdown arrows a’blazing. With a pumped up sideline we were able to channel our inner girls on fire and give Texas a run for their money. While the loss was tough we were able to ride on the heels of that excitement. Nightlock went on to defeat New York’s Bent and North Carolina’s Phoenix before the games were called due to lightning. Or as we call it, Nightning.
In typical Nightlock fashion we ended the tournament by taking over a restaurant and later an airport bar where some of our real names (Primrose and Katniss) confused the muggle waiters.
